The Egyptian Medical License Exam (EMLE) was created to ensure that Egypt’s medical school graduates are actually qualified to start practicing medicine and to ensure that they have obtained adequate training before obtaining a license to practice medicine in Egypt.

New amendments to the Egyptian medical practice Law No. 415 of 1954 on practicing the profession of medicine, which was issued No. 154 of 2019, were made in 2019 after being approved by The Egyptian President and the House of Representatives.
The new law aims to have graduates of faculties of medicine nationwide take a test before obtaining their licenses that typically allow them to practice medicine in Egypt.
The new law also dictates that individuals with a Bachelor’s degree in medicine from any Egyptian university are required to spend a one year training as medical interns at ministry-approved hospitals before they can become eligible for registration as practitioners of medicine with the Ministry of Health.
